Gooru: A Teacher/Student Resource

Good News!

We've been invited to try the beta Gooru Learning: a new platform to find and use or to create and develop quality, interactive, standards-based learning units.  Hundreds already exist in math and science for grades 5, 6, 7, and 8.

How do you access it?

Login to your Google Apps in the staff or student domain.  In the top menu bar, click on the "More" link and go to "Gooru."

Below is a visual in iGoogle to showing you Gooru and our other Google Apps Add-ons, such as Engrade Gradebook and Planbookedu.

Orange: Services

After clicking "Gooru" the page in the image below appears. Click the pencil in the right margin to take notes. Type your science or math topic in the search bar to discover lessons and links.  You can also create your own. I'm starting one called "Google Apps and Internet Safety." It's a project-based unit for our grade six students to train our fifth grade students in the use of Google Apps while applying Internet Safety and our Guidelines. It is unfinished at this time; I just started it today.

Take a look at our new Google App Add-on, Gooru, including the Gooru Student Info. Find a topic in math and science and use the resources/lessons.  Add some of your own. Make them public so others can add and use also.

Check back here and leave a comment about your recommendations for Gooru lessons.

Think about it.  What are you studying in math and science now? Need a video or hand out? See if Gooru can help.

  1. Thanks for the shout out!

Adding the Gooru Google App is simple - just have your domain administrator add it by clicking on the link (https://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/viewListing?productListingId=13045+661590233363337669&category=&query=Gooru). Then follow the steps that the marketplace takes him/her through.

After adding the App, accessing it is very easy - as Sheri Edwards explains in her post above.

Again, thanks for the shout out and we look forward to hearing your feedback.
